Method

The Feldenkrais Method is a somatic learning method that combines movement and perception. The method aims to improve self-awareness and the quality of movement. By consciously noticing and changing habits, participants develop a better understanding of their entire self, discover movement patterns through gentle, explorative movement sequences and thus learn new ways of moving.

At the heart of the method is the principle of neuroplasticity – the brain's ability to reorganise itself. Through new and conscious movement experiences, the nervous system is stimulated to create more efficient and adaptable connections that promote ease and functionality in everyday activities.

In contrast to other methods, the Feldenkrais Method emphasises learning through exploration. This curiosity-driven approach invites you to experience movement and discover what feels new or most comfortable in order to cultivate joy and freedom in movement.

Functional Integration

Functional Integration

Functional Integration (FI) is a wonderful, playful approach to learning and exploring movement. This one-on-one work is about assisting you to improve your movement, awareness and functionality together with the Feldenkrais Practitioner. In Functional Integration, we focus on discovering and improving your specific way of moving. By using gentle, non-invasive movements and touch that stimulate your nervous system, new, efficient ways of moving can be learnt gently and with ease.

Awareness Through Movement

Awareness Through Movement  (60 min, 25 €)

In an Awareness Through Movement lesson, I guide participants through movement sequences to enhance their awareness of individual movement patterns and their interconnections. These movements are performed gently and at each participant’s individual pace, enabling everyone to explore and discover their unique ways of moving. This exploration fosters a meaningful and transformative learning experience. This exploration helps improve self-perception and somatic awareness related to nervous system functions. A key aspect of the Feldenkrais Method is its connection to functional movements in daily life, such as walking efficiently, lifting safely, and improving posture. Classes typically last 60 minutes and may involve walking, standing, sitting, or lying on the floor in comfortable positions. Many participants are surprised by the quick and evident changes they notice through the neuromuscular repatterning in an Awareness Through Movement lesson.

Balance Training

Balance Training (from 3 people, 60 min., price on request)

How do we stabilise ourselves in phases of unbalance and uncertainty? How can we find our balance and orientation together? Starting from the vestibular system in the inner ear, our sensory organ for balance, we explore the potential benefits of moments of dizziness. Our sense of balance provides not only physical but also emotional balance and orientation. Dizziness, as an unpredictable, uncertain movement, throws us off balance but simultaneously opens up new spaces for experience. We feel the forces of gravity on us, stagger and find our balance again. The possibilities of balancing together are made tangible in this balance training with somatic learning and theoretical considerations.

I am an artist, guest professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna, affiliated member of the Centre for Sensory Studies at Concordia University, Montreal, and a Feldenkrais practitioner based in Vienna, Austria. I possess a profound curiosity about all forms of movement and learning together. I have cultivated a long-term co-creative practice with my partner Ruth Anderwald. For the last 15 years, I have been researching dizziness — an unpredictable movement that holds transformative potential in both art and life. During my research on dizziness, I discovered the Feldenkrais method and have pursued somatic learning, sensory cognition, and epistemic decompression.  I am a certified Feldenkrais Practitioner and  I am looking forward to working with you.

It’s all the time improvisation but it has a method in it. It’s playing music on certain notes, and making variations on a theme, and therefore it is a real learning. It is a lived thing.
